An English teacher in California was arrested following allegations she engaged in an improper relationship with a female student.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office announced in a press release that 37-year-old Christina Jacobson, who used the alias Chris Austin, was taken into custody on Monday. She faces charges of oral copulation with a person under 18 and sexual penetration with a foreign object.
Jacobson, who taught at Beaumont High School, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student. She’s the second teacher in the past month arrested on such allegations.
Investigators believe the crime happened at or near Jacobson’s Lake Arrowhead home.
The Beaumont Unified School District said in a statement posted on its website that it learned of the allegations on Sept. 18. Jacobson was immediately placed on administrative leave, but she resigned that same day.
“The District is deeply troubled by the recent allegations of staff misconduct with students, and we understand that our parents, students and staff are very concerned,” it read.
“As professional educators committed to every student’s academic and emotional growth, we do not tolerate any misconduct of this nature by anyone.”
Two weeks ago, another Beaumont High School English teacher was arrested after a police investigation revealed the educator allegedly had sex with one of her students.
The victim told police that he and Samantha Lee Ciotta, 32, engaged in sexual activity over the past few months.
Investigators also said Ciotta and the teen exchanged “inappropriate communications” through various messaging platforms.
Ciotta was released from jail shortly after her arrest after posting her bail.
Jacobson remains at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on $500,000 bail.
