The Hawkins County savage arrested and charged with the kidnapping of his niece earlier this summer, an event that triggered a nationwide AMBER alert, was indicted on additional charges Monday by a grand jury.
Sheriff Ronnie Lawson confirmed to reporters that Gary Simpson, 58, of Rogersville, is now facing two additional counts of rape of a child and three counts of aggravated sexual battery. That is in addition to the charge of especially aggravated kidnapping.
Police accused the pedophile of misleading officials back in May and checking his 9-year-old niece out of her elementary school then hiding out with her for eight days in a back valley outside of town.
The monster and the missing girl were discovered by a pair of would-be detectives who combed the county on all-terrain vehicles and held the child molester until police arrived.
The sex terrorist is scheduled to appear in Hawkins County Criminal Court on Friday on the new charges, Lawson told reporters.
