This honk described as a transient molested a 3-year-old girl in unincorporated Largo a couple of days ago, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said Edwin Esmurria, 30, was visiting a home with a friend of the victim’s mother for several hours. At about 4 a.m. in the morning the mother and her friend went outside to talk, and while they were away, Esmurria entered the residence and got into the victim’s bed and began to touch the girl inappropriately, detectives said.
The victim’s brother, who was also in the bed, woke up and ran out to tell their mother. The mother ran inside the home to check on the child. When she returned to the garage, she attacked Esmurria and Esmurria attacked back, deputies said.
The friend separated the two and Esmurria then fled the scene on foot. The child molester was later apprehended by deputies.
Esmurria, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested for sexual battery on a child under 12 and two counts of battery. He is being held without bond, according to jail records.
