Stephen David Jerome, 61, committed suicide after leaping from an 11-story building just hours after being released from jail where he had been held on child porn charges.
The “white” demon, who was a bankruptcy lawyer turned opera singer, had been released on bond from the Broward County Jail last week charged with minor drug offenses. Investigators were looking for videos featuring children as young as seven being used for sex by adult males when they searched his apartment but instead found marijuana and oxycodone.
They took away Jerome’s computer and related equipment for further investigation. Despite his death, authorities say they have to continue with their investigation.
The amateur actor was said to have an ‘obsession with child porn’ that cost him his law license 20 years ago. He was forced to deliver pizzas after this but eventually managed to get his license back.
In 1990 he was charged with sexual performance by a child after authorities say they found European child-porn magazines in his bedroom closet.
He was sentenced to probation and community service.
A maintenance worker found the “white” monster’s body about 10am on Friday. Authorities found a suicide note in his pocket but would not reveal what it said.
His lawyer Mark skipper told the paper: ‘He was so excited about that. He was calling and texting and emailing me about The Producers.’
But she later found out he was there to execute a new will, naming her as his personal representative before jumping from a small balcony on a higher floor of the building.
Jerome’s life partner, Balvino Berrera, 48, was in Guatemala with his family.
According to Fisher, Jerome had planned on retiring in the next few years to Guatemala to be with Berrera full time. He had also wired Berrera money early on Friday morning.
