A Toledo “white” man was arrested and charged with public indecency Wednesday after rangers at Wildwood Preserve Metropark saw him lying on the ground with a dog and touching his genitals through his pants.
The incident was initially reported to enforcement officials Tuesday morning. Metropark volunteers figured something freaky was going on and promptly informed law enforcers, providing a somewhat accurate description of the multi-tasking “white” man.
“They immediately recognized this isn’t right, reported it to the rangers with a great description with very short shorts, a tee shirt and that’s it,” said Scott Carpenter, spokesperson for the Metroparks of the Toledo Area.
The dog lover, Michael K. Hilsenbeck, 50, of Home Lane in Toledo, was booked into the Lucas County jail, then was released pending a hearing in Sylvania Municipal Court.
The dog belongs to a man who was with Mr. Hilsenbeck. The man, who was not charged, told rangers he saw nothing inappropriate and was allowed to take his dog. Mr. Carpenter said he did not have details on the type of dog.
Mr. Hilsenbeck is definitely not a rookie when it comes to dog loving. He was apparently arrested in 2008 for entering someone else’s property, exposing himself and forcing a dog to lick him. He spent a year on probation for that offense.
